Tummy talking

And so the journey ends

I’ve been fighting a loosing battle for some time and there’s a limit to how much you can try and htfu. I’ve not swam in months, nor cycled in months and I’m so far out of shape, still injured, been mental in work with no end in sight and a change in family circumstances to boot. All this means that it’s time to call a spade a spade and accept that the IM, and indeed triathlon, dream has ended. I’m not going to be content to plod around any course and that’s probably all I able for. It’s been a fun seven years.

Over and out and all the best.

Squished a run in

I’ve gone from running 160km a week to struggling to fit in, and then complete, a six km “run”. Can you call five minute kms running?

False start

The plan was for an early start to the day. To get back into things. Get the day started with a turbo. Unfortunately our power went every hour last night, which meant every hour the house alarm would go off with a “Mains Fault”. This feature can’t be turned off or disabled. This loud piercing noise would then upset other members of the household who would then take an hour to get settled………………. Needless to say no early start to the day. Nevermind the bus, this year is going to be tougher.

Struggling

Things have got a little more difficult and it appears training has now moved from a regimented, scheduled, detailed and planned approach to training to quishing-in-what-I-can-when-I-can. This week I’ve managed a 30 minute jog and a brief turbo and thats probably going to be all I get done. Still nothing like a good challenge.

Just a little bit

For a number of reasons, ice being one, all I’ve got done is an hours turbo last Saturday and two 30 minute “runs” this week. There are times to HTFU and SIU but this is not one of them. Saturdays turbo was pushing it as it is, although it is a session I will remember until the day I die. I may have to reasess my goals :)

You look healthy

I didn’t really train for the month of December. December is the month of Roses, Celebrations and Hereos. So I put on a good bit of weight. I put on eight pounds. Now I’m being told – “You look healthy”. Not too subtle code for “You’re a fat cvnt.” Must remember to put down the pie.

Getting back on the road

I pretty much had the month of December off. Hardly ideal. However a combination of injuries and work meant that training just didn’t happen. The injuries stopped me running and stripped me of all motivation to swim or ride.

So now I am back at it, the injuries are still there but clearing but the motivation is coming back. An argument with two people over why I shouldn’t just chuck in Austria got me thinking and then got me motivated.

So I’m back training. I’m 8 pounds heavier than the start of December, I haven’t swam in a month and haven’t run in two weeks. Up until yesterday I hadn’t cycled in six weeks, so these stats are from a fairly low starting point.

Stats:
Weight: Goal weight – 14lbs overweight
Swim metric: Goal 400m time – 1:01 off
Bike metric: Goal CP30 – 165 watts
Run metric: Goal pace per km – 45 seconds per km out

Going to be interesting to try and get back into shape and try to hit the goals.
